Take 5 Café Menu to Complement its Fresh Locally Made Foods
Today, the organic food market is growing rapidly. In Canada, for example, organic food sales surpassed $1 billion three years ago. While British Columbians account for 13 per cent of the Canadian population, they purchased 26 per cent of the organic food sold in the country in 2006, this according to the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada.
Take 5 Café’s new organic coffee is called Rainforest Blend, a dark roast fair trade organic coffee that is a full bodied, bold blend with slightly sweet and volcanic overtones. It is sold by the cup and by whole bean bags. Prices before tax include: $1.79 small (12 oz), $1.94 medium (16 oz) and $2.24 large (20 oz), and $18.99 for one pound and $69.00 for five pound whole bean bags.
All coffees, including Rainforest Blend, for Take 5 Café are exclusively selected and roasted in small batches for the company. This special “small batch” roasting process ensures a taste profile that is in line with a coffee’s true cup character. For whole bean purchases, Take 5 Café will grind the beans in-store if consumers prefer to take ‘ground coffee’ back to their office or home.
A new “Organic Chocolate Brownie” made with organic ingredients has also been added to the Take 5 Café menu. This delicious and fulfilling brownie is individually priced at $2.75. All foods sold at Take 5 Cafés are made fresh daily at the company’s central kitchen in Vancouver. All baked goods are free of trans-fats and ingredients are locally grown and sourced whenever possible.
Take 5 Café is also now carrying a line of organic juices and vitamin waters by Purity.Organic™ for $3.80 each (480 ml). The company uses only organic ingredients and follows simple recipes that stay true to the fruit. The juices are pure, expertly balanced flavours made with the best organic fruit available; flavours include citrus passion, strawberry paradise and cranberry harmony. Vitamin waters are available in two flavours including pomegranate blueberry and orange mango.
Take 5 Cafés are located at The United Kingdom Building (Granville at Hastings), Coal Harbour (Nicole at Pender), AXA Place (West Hastings at Burrard), Pacific Centre (West Georgia at Howe), West 4th (between Yew and Vine), Venables (between McLean and Clark) and Metropolis at Metrotown (Upper Floor of mall) in Burnaby.
